Script the lesson
Type what you see and hear. Mark a line as their exact words or as something the lesson produced, tap a tally, time a transition. Everything is written to the device first, so a classroom with no wi-fi changes nothing.
Tag the evidence
Sort your notes against the eight rated Danielson components. Your original notes are never rewritten — an edit lives beside the note it came from, so what you scripted in the room stays exactly as you scripted it.
Hand over the report
Draft each narrative from your own tagged evidence, edit every sentence, then deliver it — as a Word document, in a shared meeting view, or laid out ready to paste into the district's own form.
Rather not use AI at all? One switch turns it off.
Nothing is ever sent to an AI unless you press a Draft button yourself. And if you would rather it were not there, Settings has a switch that removes it — the draft buttons go, and the server refuses to send anything to an AI even if a request reaches it another way. Everything else works exactly the same. If your district has a policy about AI, this is the setting to point at.

Questions
- Do our teachers' names go to an AI company?
- No. Nothing is sent to an AI unless you press a Draft button yourself — there is no background drafting and nothing is sent as you type. When you do ask for a draft, the teacher's name, and any other term you have asked us to hide, is stripped out on our server before the notes are sent, and put back in the draft that comes home. The AI never receives the name. WellNoted also holds no student roster: the app asks you to write S1, S2 or initials instead.
- Can I turn the AI off completely?
- Yes — one switch in Settings, and every AI feature is gone. The draft buttons stop being shown, and the server refuses to send anything to an AI even if a request reaches it another way, so it is a guarantee rather than a hidden button. Everything else works exactly as before: capture, tagging, writing the report in your own words, the deadlines and the rating projection. Turn it back on whenever you like. If your district has a policy about AI, this is the setting to point at.
- What does it cost?
- Your first 5 observations are free, with nothing to cancel and no card asked for. After that it is $99 once — not a subscription, not per teacher, not per year. Everything you captured during the free observations is still there when you unlock it.
- Does it write the report for me?
- It writes a first draft, only from evidence you captured and tagged, and you edit every line of it. It will not invent a quote, a count or a time that is not in your notes. The rating and the words you hand a teacher are yours — nothing is submitted anywhere for you.
- Does it know the Advance deadlines?
- Yes, and it counts them in school days rather than calendar days — holidays and recesses are already taken out. Feedback is owed within 10 school days of a visit and the written report within 30; your caseload lists whatever is nearest, most overdue first.
- What if the classroom has no wi-fi?
- Keep scripting. Notes are saved to your device as you type and sync when you are back on a connection — losing signal mid-lesson costs you nothing.
